Where Your Music Journey Begins
Where Your Music Journey Begins
Originally from Michigan, Kara moved to Minneapolis in 2016 to study at North Central University. She demonstrated an interest in music from a young age, often serenading her grandfather over the phone as a three year old. Throughout middle and high school she was involved in band, choir, youth worship team, and school musicals. During that time she also took voice, piano, flute lessons, and conducted the marching band as a drum major. Throughout college she has taught voice and piano lessons in various settings and loves getting to know her students to discover how best to teach them. She believes music lessons can transform a student’s confidence in themselves and as a performer. As a result, she is intentional in creating an encouraging environment in which students can tap into their full potential.
Kara’s university studies included advanced music theory, vocal and music pedagogy, voice lessons in all genres, and participation in NCU’s touring choir, Chorale. In her final semester, she also combined her Music and Global Studies majors, researching theory and traditions of Middle Eastern music.
